Coach Val Acree is in his 2nd year at Springlake-Earth High School. He will be teaching Honors US History, as well as the Junior and Senior English classes. He is also the Head Boys Basketball Coach, Assistant Football Coach, and Head Golf Coach.

Coach Acree graduated high school from Midland High School then earned his BA in English from Augusta State University in Georgia. Previously Val has served 9.5 years in the United States Army as a Russian interpreter, taught at high schools in Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. While at Comstock High School, he was named the San Antonio Sports.Com Class 1A Boys Basketball Coach of the Year in 2005-06, and also won the UIL Social Studies State Championships in 2004 and 2006. He comes to us from Muleshoe High School. Coach Acree has a sister and brother-in-law that live in Tulsa, an 9 year old dog named Astro, and a 13 year old cat named Pancho. His hobbies include reading history and sports-related books, running, and sports of all kinds including football, basketball, and baseball. He is a avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers! Coach Acree loves to cook, makes great salsa and the best chocolate chip banana muffins EVER!
